The Art of Visualizing Black & White

This piece was started when I was at an art show in a mall.
I did the original drawing on cold press illustration board.
I literally had to put myself into a trance to eliminate the mall noise
and commotion. When I finished the drawing a lady friend
told me there was about 10 people watching me draw and I
actually had no idea of anyone behind me. Back in my studio I
attempted to paint the piece in the same frame of mind but my
surroundings were obviously quite different. How fortunate.
One of my favorite fantasy pieces. I enjoy the texture of cold
press illustration but I do not care for the concave effect that
seems to be the result after applying washes of paint.
